I just took some profits on the GBPJPY short. Ashraf/Anyone you see GPY weakness persisting in this pair?

Dema, Ashraf,

Could this translate to short term weakness against the USD for other commodity currencies such as Aus, Nzd. Why not Short CAD/JPY? Curious.

Hi Ashraf and all,

I'd like to go long on EUR/USD and Aussie yet feel i have missed the boat on this round. Listening to Ashrafs comments on Bloomberg last friday there is anticipation of a dramatic pullback for the likes of Cable in the medium term? Im currently short GBP/Yen, NZD/USD, Aussie/Yen.

Thoughts anyone?

Regards
Steven

Probably a good time to short USD/JPY according to the downward channel on the daily. (Consensus is Dollar loosing ground to Yen and seems to be the safer play)

Anyone else got caught on the wrong side?

From my side: What was supposed to be a short term AUS/JPY, GBP/JPY short ended up going the wrong way and now am looking at a lot of red (We are talking 10p a pip here so its not excruciating - yet) The sense i'm getting is that we are probably going down from here in the short term and then moving up towards the end of the year with projections of Cable at 175 and EuroUSD in the 150's.

So assuming we are heading lower in the short term, When do i exit my shorts?

Currently im short on these:
GBP/JPY
AUS/JPY
AUS/NZD (Feel relatively confident on this short)
NZD/JPY
USD/JPY (Feel relatively confident on this short)
Cable

Probably too much here.

Thoughts from all?

Best to all,
Steven

Dollar break down short lived?.

Do you still see USD/JPY as short term Short at these levels to support line of 91.30? There is talk of the Dollar break down being short lived with a possible push back up to 95.

Best,
Steven

Carlco. To say consumer driven economies are the problem i believe is over simplifying things. Consumerism itself is healthy as long as personal debt doesn't spiral beyond. And who's to say China will be having a party? They have, like Norway been quite responsible building up their sovereign wealth while such countries as the U spent all their north sea oil years ago. Social behavior is changing in China and needs to change to allow for less dependency on exports (which is problematic for them now). The lessons the Chinese will hopefully learn from our mistakes is that out of control consumerism leads us into out of control debt. China as part of their economic ascent needs its people to become more consumerist (if thats a word). Just thoughts.

GBP/USD down 100pips in 2 hrs. Dollar/Yen strength across board. I do wonder if today being NFP day its prudent to side step the action and watch from the sidelines?
